4 Man Ambrose – Select 22-11-25
The final day of the 2025 Winter Comp meant a game of 4-man Ambrose Select off
the white tees. A later tee time of around 1250 was due to a Shot Gun start for a group
of Golfers that teed off around 8 AM and to ensure there was minimal time between the
end of playing golf and our end of year function.
6 teams of 4 presented for play. The first group teed off with the course empty and about
3 hours 45 minutes later their round was completed. After the game the Maylands Outdoor
area was full of people, fortunately we were able to get into the function room early.

End of Year Dinner and Trophy Presentation
A good number of our members stayed at the Maylands Club where our club
held our End of Year Dinner and Trophy Presentation. Cash was dealt out to
all by Stevie G and Razor for all the credits won throughout the year.
The club put a tab on the bar, and everyone had a choice of food on the menu.
Trophy presentation was held, and everyone appeared to have a good time.
I want to thank everyone for their contributions to our club throughout the year.
Below is a selection of photos taken on the night.

Ukrainian Stableford – Pairs – Drawn 22-11-25
A cooler spring day greeted the 18 members to have a friendly game of Ukrainian
Stableford. Hoppy did the draw and the pairings ended up being reasonably equal.
Ukrainian Stableford
- Each member of the pairing plays own Stableford Game
- Team score per hole is by multiplying each of the pairs Stableford score
Angry AKA Steve Irwin did the animal lover thing by moving 2 x long neck tortoises
from the fairway to the closest water. There was one on the fairway on the 3rd hole
being attacked by birds and another on the 7th hole. When talking with Angry he
said that he has a tortoise at home and a carpet python named fluffy.

Modified Stableford – Pairs – Drawn 15-11-25
Another warm spring day greeted the 21 members and Alby to have a friendly game of modified
stableford. Hoppy did the draw and the pairings ended up being reasonably equal.
Modified Stableford
- Each member of the pairing has a drive on each hole
- They then select the best drive
- They then have their next shots from the best drive
- Play their own stableford game after the drive.

Individual
With modified stableford there tends to be some high stableford scores and the results
showed it.
In second position with 44 points was Neil (Billy) Buscumb (Partner Stevie G), Billy was heard
complaining on how he got 44 points and came second.
Our winner and for the second week in a row is our resident Guiness guzzler Stid with
a sensational 45 points (Partner Sendo). Stid can be heard saying “Nice One Partner”
Team
With the team’s event both stableford scores are added together to get a total.
In second position with a very good score of 80 points was the team of Hoppy and Weirdo. Hoppy
ended up being a little annoyed because Wierdo 4 putted the 18th green from 12 feet which in the
end cost them first place.
The winners with 81 points and beating Hoppy and Weirdo by a point was the team of
Billy and Stevie G.

November Monthly Medal (Medal of Medals) 08-11-25
A glorious warm spring day greeted the 13 members and the 3 visitors (Shane, Colin and Alby)
to contest the November Monthly Medal with a game of Stableford and also to crown this
years Medal of Medals. The Mayland’s green were surprisingly quick which made scoring
difficult for some of us (including yours truly)

As it is Monthly Medal we have to have a NAGA and for this month we had a countback.
The two Martin’s must have seen the writing on the wall as they had a wager. The NAGA
winner would have to get their face painted by Daisy Freedom Fairy. Both ended up with
25 points but with a superior back nine Sparky avoided the NAGA, so the winner of
the November NAGA, a bottle of ALDI Red and a face paint was Martin P.
In the 3rd place with a little luck on the 8th hole was the resident gnome Razor with
a fine score of 34 points.
In second spot with a nice 36 points was Cuddly Duddly Don
But our runaway Monthly Medal winner with a sparkling 41 points was Stid.
Well played Stid.
Our 2025 Medal of Medals winner is Don, well played Don.

2025 Weekend Away 31-10-25 and 01-11-25

Friday 31-10-25 Bunbury Golf Club – Stableford
21 Members and 2 visitors (Shane and Colin) ventured to Bunbury for this year’s Weekend
Away. The first game of the weekend was a game of Stableford at the Bunbury Golf Club
with a 09:30 arrival for a 1000 tee off. 20 members and our 2 visitors were there on time but
one of our members was missing. Razor was notified and was asked to find out where our
last member was. It turns out that Big Rob was still in Perth!!. Rob finished work at 8 AM so it
was acceptable that he may be late however Big Rob failed to look at the website and thought
that the weekend away was on Saturday and Sunday and not Friday and Saturday. Rob quickly
got organised and was hoping to join us on the back nine, however he didn’t join any of our
groups. We noticed however whilst playing the back nine, Rob had joined a group of members
and was playing the back 9.
Good to see Rob made it but please read the website next time Rob!!!
Now parking cars must be thing at our club. B2 the previous week and Angry must of
thought the Bunbury Golf Club parking was Angle parking and even so couldn’t park
within the lines.
The Bunbury course had maintenance done a couple of weeks before and the wind
was fairly strong and did have some impact to the scoring.
Fortunately, the weather held off long enough for everyone to complete their round
and to get into Bunbury.

3rd place was taken by Billy with 33 points
There was a countback for 1st with PK and Hoppy both having 35 points.
2nd place was therefore taken by Hoppy but our winner with a better back
nine was PK (Uncle Fester) – well played.
After golf everyone went to their accommodation with the majority staying in the 6 cabins
at The Bunbury Foreshore Caravan Park. Nearly everyone went into the city going to various
locations for a bit of dinner and drinks. At the Rose there was about 10 of us, being Halloween
there was a theme at the Rose with all the staff being dressed up. After dinner, 12 witches began
dancing around the bistro area celebrating Halloween, Uncle Fester (PK) was in his element and
decided to join in.
At the Last Slice, 3 of our members decided to have dinner and watch Perth Glory lose again,
they walked to the Last Slice from the Caravan Park in the rain, however they made the decision
to go from the Last Slice to the Burlington Hotel, not wanting to walk they organised an UBER.
$12.50 and a 30 second UBER trip later they arrived at the Burlington. It turns out the Burlington
Hotel is only 150 metres from the Last Slice MMMM
Saturday 01-11-25 Harvey Golf Club – 4 Man Ambrose
The bus arrived at the normal loading point at about 8:00 with everyone to be loaded by 8:30
to be bussed to Harvey Golf Club for a game of 4 Man Ambrose with a 9:30 tee off on the first tee.
The bus trip was uneventful however one of our members Angry was in a similar pose this year to
what he was this year, at least this year he didn’t lose his phone.
On arrival at Harvey everyone was required to pay cash. Rob understandably did not have any
cash so we sorted something out. Everyone paid in notes but there was one of members
Dobbie who decided that he needed to pay with 20 x $2 coins and a $5 note – thankyou Dobbie
After finishing the front nine we had a break in the clubhouse where we arranged lunch.
The Harvey
Golf Club provided with wonderful Ham and Salad Roll, and a sausage roll per person.
Some took the opportunity to top up from the night before.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank the people at the Harvey Golf Club for
being very gracious hosts and making us welcome.
After the members had teed off on the back nine it was our turn.

1st Place – Nett 60.375 = Derek, Sparky, Dobbie and Stid
Saturday night saw everyone head to Cabin 5 for a bit of pizza, drinks and a bit of fun.
As usual we had the “Wheel of Fortune” and the Master of Arms. We also had a special
guest to assist Kiwi with the wheel and PK with the Master of Arms, none other than
Plukka Duck arrived to add to the fun. Everyone had a laugh, and a good time was had
by all except for one person. BJ who got in the Plukka Duck suit did the job for about
40 minutes and was totally exhausted after doing it – the suit may need a clean.
Last words
We have tried to keep your costs down as much as we can but unfortunately, next year
we may have to increase the amount, we have to charge as accommodation prices increase.
I would like to give a big thank you to everyone who had a part in arranging the weekend away
no matter how big or small a roll you played.
I would like to also thank all those who turned up to make this year’s Weekend Away a success.
Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did
I even had my first drink for 15 months and 23 days

Round 3 Club Championships “Stroke” 25-10-25
Round 3 of the Club Championship attracted 22 players which included a past member Alby
who returned for the second week in a row. Today’s results would determine who would be
the champions of A, B and C grade in both stroke and handicap and who would ultimately
be the Club Champion of 2025.
It was a warm Spring Day, but the conditions were tough with a fairly strong and gusty
South Westerly wind. As with the previous week there were a large group of guys playing
Ambrose pairs ahead of s. We caught up with them early but in general the pace of play
was OK. The greens were a lot faster this week which made judging the speed challenging
especially for one club captain.
Now last week we talked about the ability of some of our members controlling their golf
buggies, but BJ before the game was going off on the ability of one of our members in
attempting to reverse his car into his selected car park, apparently B2 was having some
difficulty and after numerous attempts managed to reverse between the lines. I guess
like golfing, practice makes perfect eventually.
It was good to see Stid back this week after suffering a back injury last week, however
did not do his game much good as both he and PK had a moose on the 14th hole. Don
was in the news again this week not only were the bagpipes playing again the real
Scotsman came out on the 8th tee. The drink cart came around on the 5th tee and Don
was going to get a Swan Draught out of the esky and asked where are the stubbies, the friendly
girl said they only have cans, Don then being the Scotsman that he is asked for a discount
because they didn’t have stubbies, not sure whether he got a discount or not but kudos
for trying.

Round 2 Club Championships “Stroke” 18-10-25
Round 2 of the Club Championship attracted 21 players which included a past member Alby.
An indifferent Spring Day presented itself with a fairly stiff Northwest to Westerly wind
which made conditions difficult and the scoring was proof of that.
Unfortunately, again the pace of play was fairly slow with a lot of public out and the groups
in front of our first group was playing Ambrose. It took nearly 5 hours to play 18 holes with
every player having to wait before they had their shot. There was also another reason for
slow play especially in the last couple of groups on the back nine, Martin P lost his 7 iron
in the trees on the left-hand side of the 12th hole and had every one of his group and the
group behind searching for it. Fortunately, the 7 iron was found but not before holding
up all the back groups.
Now poor Stid is in the headlines again, we were in the last group on the 10th hole and
noticed a yellow shirt headed back towards the clubhouse, when we got closer saw, it
was Stid and apparently while looking at a ball going out of bounds did some damage
to his back so much so that he couldn’t swing the golf club, so he decided to head back.
Could not have been too bad though as he went and watched the Glory drawing after
being up 2 nil early against Wellington.
Now there was also a bit of cart control issues. It appears that Dobbie rear ended
Razor’s buggy,
Del’s umbrella which is attached to his remote-control buggy hit our handicapper Hoppy
in the head and then to top that off, Del rolled his buggy on the ninth hole.

In third place after the countback was Razor 93 nett 74 and in second spot with an 86 nett 74
was Stinga. Now this was a good recovery after his tee shot on the 1st hole where there was
a comment by our winner to the tune of “Hey Stinga have you ever thought about taking up
another sport”
With an 83 nett 70, 1st place goes to Cuddly Duddly Don (and we did hear the bagpipes on

Round 1 Club Championships and October Monthly Medal “Stroke” 11-10-25
Round 1 of the Club Championship and the October Monthly Medal “Stroke” attracted
22 players to compete in the 3 grades to try and have a good start in an effort to win
the Club Championships which is to be held over 3 rounds. A glorious Spring Day
presented itself however a fairly stiff Fremantle Doctor came in to make conditions difficult.
Unfortunately, the pace of play was fairly slow with a lot of public out and about and having
a hit. The greens were fairly quick and with the Fremantle Doctor scoring proved to be
reasonably difficult.
There was a medical emergency during the week with Stid not feeling the best and
decided to get himself to Hospital to find out why he was feeling so poorly. It works out
that he had fluid on his lungs which had to be drained. The doctors were astounded at the
colour of the fluid and it had a very dark chocolate almost black colour, some say that after
it was collected it resembled a good pint of Guiness with a nice frothy head.
Fortunately, on Saturday Stid was feeling much better and walked the 18 holes.
Good to see you are OK Stid.

President vs Captain Matchplay 04-10-25
What started off to be reasonable day turned into a wet and sometimes windy afternoon.
18 players turned up for the annual President versus Captain Matchplay team’s event
to determine who has bragging rights for the next 12 months. Rob started but due to
work commitments could only play 9 holes.
Once the draw was done were able to tee off a little bit early but no sooner, we got started
we caught up to the group in front who turned out to be a part of a larger group who were
playing Ambrose. I know why they made them the last group because they were painfully
slow all day, which was more annoying given the weather.

Stuff The Footy Trophy “Kiwi Point Score 27-09-25
While a few of our members decided to watch Brisbane have a great second half to beat
Geelong in the AFL Grand Final, 14 players decided to “Stuff the Footy” and have a game
of Kiwi Point Score on a glorious spring day with a clear sky and a sometimes fresh south westerly
breeze. Of those 14 we even had the Chef make a rare appearance as normally work gets in the way.
This is what he looks like.
The way Kiwi point score is played is like this. Each player starting score is their handicap. Then they
either add or subtract from the score depending on what the player scores on the hole. You then do a
running tally on each hole until you get a final score after 18 holes. To make things easier the
Captain provided each team a how to score sheet.
Eagle +4, Birdie +3, Par +2, Bogie 0, Double Bogie -1 and other -2.
So simple even Razor and Billy worked out how to do it.
Now Cuddly Duddly Don (our resident Scotsman) was having a very bad day for the first 13 holes. Then in
the distance on the 14th hole we could all hear bagpipes. Don apparently had a moment of inspiration on
the 14th hole as he actually scored in the positive. On closer examination on the opposite side of the
river there was a bloke practicing the bagpipes on the edge of the river. Looking at Don’s score for the
day I think he needed more than bagpipes.

Stableford 20-09-25
On a glorious spring day with a clear sky and a sometimes fresh south westerly
breeze we had game of Stableford, with 21 members turning up to have a hit
including our country member Ray.
Before we started, we all noticed that one of our members was not wearing
the required yellow shirt. BJ thought he would be domesticated and decided
to iron his shirt before he came to golf, he started to smell smoke unfortunately
the iron he was using developed an electrical fault and caught fire and somehow
his son’s Doona caught fire, fortunately he was able to extinguish the fire but
wreck his shirt. So, he decided to wear a bright pink shirt just to stand out,
must have worked because he played well.
Stay away from the iron BJ
Now you would have had to be blind not to notice the 2 gorgeous girls that were playing
the front nine. Both we’re wearing the shortest of shorts. Peter B2 Scott messaged me
during the back nine and told me that the near pin marker had been left on the 9th hole.
When we finished the 18th, I began to walk towards the 9th hole to get the marker when
my eyes popped out of my head because the 2 gorgeous girls were on the 9th green.
THANK YOU, PETER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Captains Trophy “Stroke” 13-09-25
17 brave souls presented themselves to brave the near cyclonic weather conditions to
play a game of stroke to win the most prestigious Trophy “The Captains Trophy”.
The majority of the day was dry all but the occasional rain squall that went through
however, the very strong north-westerly just didn’t give up all day and made for challenging conditions.
Most of the holes had dried out a bit but the third hole still had the lake covering the
fairway just past the end of the tee box. Now most of us managed to get around the lake,
however, there was one of our members who had a little difficulty. Apparently, battery
operated golf carts do not traverse soggy conditions all that well and this member buggy
became stuck. That member being TWFSL Manoj who had to take of his
shoes and socks to retrieve his buggy. I bet he was looking forward to the food after the game.
The Captain had tree trouble all day, but it was the grumpy Kiwi on the Par 3 13th that
found his ball in a very awkward position. It appears that he had to straddle the tree to
get a swing at the ball. The question needs to be asked how the ball got there in the first
place, must have been one of Kiwis better tee shots 🙂 However, Kiwi did find the green on 16.

13th hole = Manoj
16th hole= Kiwi

Now that Big Al is away on his European holiday it has given someone else a chance to
win.
We had a countback for third with both players having Nett 73. B2 had an 89 nett 73
and Angry had an 84 nett 73. It turns out that B2 had the better back nine so B2 claims 3rd place.
We also had a countback for 1st and 2nd and both players have handicaps of 20.
Razor and Billy hit 90 off the stick for nett 70. Billy’s back nine was a little worse than Razors so
Billy has been pipped on the post and is 2nd.
Our winner of the captain’s Trophy for 2025 is Razor – well played.
Long Putt – Has jackpotted again
Birds nest – Is still on the 2nd Hole and has jackpotted yet again – there is currently $325 in the kitty

Monthly Medal Par Plus 06-09-25
Throughout the week the weather forecast for Monthly Medal Par Plus was a partly
cloudy afternoon with possibility of showers.
The numbers kept dwindling to the point where 11 super keen golfers turned up to
give it a go. With the practice green not flooded things were a little promising. However,
there was strong South-West breeze, so conditions were not going to be easy.
Not easy was right, particular areas of the course were flooded particularly the 2nd, 3rd and 4th
holes, the wind was strong. Rain squalls greeted us throughout the day so it was a very difficult
day as can be seen by the scores.
Angry on the 10th hit a decent drive on the left-hand side of the fairway where the ball when it landed
had an awful kick to the left and kept going left. We could not find the ball until Angry found it!
Needless to say, there were a few expletives said when he found it.
Bad luck Angry
Still in the same group on the 12th, President Billy was having a little trouble with the trees on the
right about 80 metres from the green. Now Billy has a hard time controlling his buggy at times.
When I turned to look, I saw Billy’s front wheel of his buggy go up the trunk of a tree causing the
buggy to overturn upending Billy’s buggy and golf clubs.
Keep your chin UP Billy, you will be able to drive that thing soon.

Oh, by the way Big Al’s handicap was savaged by Hoppy.
Well done to all of you.
There was no long putt, no wheel and no food due to the weather and numbers so all will be
happening this Saturday
Ten pin Bowling
We had 21 keen Ten Pin Bowlers turn up to Zone Bowling in Morley for our second social event of the year.
The bowling alley was packed when we got there at 06:30 but the crowd soon diminished.
However, we were 2 bowlers short it turns out that our Irish brickie Conor and Erin
went to the Morley Lawn Bowls Centre instead of Ten Pin Bowling Centre. Fortunately, they eventually found their way.
Food was provided an included pizza, sliders and wedges.
Now most of us had to use the centres bowling balls and shoes but there was one bowler in particular that went all
out and brought his old bowling shirt with badges and medals, his own bowling ball and his own shoes. PK the PRO!!!!
Awesome 2nd game PK.

President’s Trophy ‘Stableford’ 30-08-25
It was a glorious winters Saturday that greeted 22 Players to play the 2025 President’s Trophy.
Of the 22 players that turned up with had two visitors who came out for hit, those visitors were Shane Seward and Colin Lane.
Thanks for coming out and having a good time with the club.
Now Grant (Kiwi) Morrogh had one job and that job was to bring the wheel, however Kiwi was all consumed
with arranging the Social Ten Pin Bowling night that he left the wheel at home. Martin (Sparky) Siney came up
with a good idea and that was to find an App, fortunately there was an App, so we had the lucky wheel. Good job Sparky!
Speaking of Sparky, he also had one job and that was to do the fines for the week. After only scoring 8 points on the front
nine and putting his tee shot on the Tenth hole in the driving range, Sparky decided being at home was better for his
mental well-being so he handballed the fines to the captain who in turn delegated it to PK.
Now our resident escort Ray (Stinga) Pritchard approached the captain before the game and gave him a prize to hand out after
the game at his discretion. So, he decided to give the prize to the NAGA for this week.
So, Craig Dobbie won the NAGA and for his achievements was awarded a fine bottle of Palmolive “Fashion Girl” anti-tangling spray.
Dobbie decided that he did not have much hair and kindly gave the bottle to Dani (our friendly bar person).

2 Man Ambrose (Select) 23-08-25
2 weeks in a row with almost perfect winter weather but this time there were a few drops of rain
but nothing to even bother getting the brolly out for? And a Max of 23 degrees, so it looks like
the golfing gods are shining on us again.
The game was 2-man Ambrose with partners selected and for a change a nice even number of
20 players arrived to make the captain’s job a little bit easier this week.
This week we welcomed back Kiwi who has been galivanting overseas and over east for quite
a few weeks now, but someone was overheard saying that they had missed him (but apparently

Monthly Medal Stroke 16-08-25
It was 3rd time lucky with the August Monthly Medal after 2 Saturdays being washed
out due to rain.
But this time it was a perfect winters day for the 17 players who arrived to fight it out,
But for some unknown reason the majority of the guys did not have the best of days
out on the course (see results)
Maybe it was just the game of stroke from the Blue Tees that made the difference?

9 Hole Stroke 02-08-25
15 Wet weather specialists arrived for the August Monthly Medal But with the 7th & 18th greens flooded
It did not look good, so it was decided to adopt the 2-putt rule if the hole on the green was flooded, which
for the 1st 3 holes this was the case but the greens on holes 4 to 9 were ok to putt on BUT after a relatively
clear patch the rain persisted and with the radar showing more to come it was decided to have a Nine Hole
Comp only, but 3 guys had already decided to quit before then and 2 guys deciding to play on and finish 18.
Results
For the 12 players who finished the 9 holes. Half the handicap was taken off the players stroke score to give a Nett
result for 9 holes with a countback Required for 2nd & 3rd place between Billy Senior & Razor both on a Nett
39.5 with Razor taking 2nd & Billy Snr taking 3rd place.
So, our nine-hole winner was Captain Stevie G with a Nett 35.5.
Birds nest on 2 has jackpotted again and due to the practice green being flooded there was no long putt.
No Handicapping or eclectic this week. All players who turned up will receive 1 point for the Points Score.
Foot Note! Billy (Junior) Jones played his last game today as he is going to Thailand to meet up with his
girlfriend for 6-week Asian Holiday then is heading back home to the UK. He may be back sooner rather
than later.
We thanked him for his time with the club & wish him all the best.

2nd Shot on the 2nd was Stevie G (note: required wade in the flooded green to put the marker in and retrieve the ball)
Closest 3rd on the 4th was no-one.

Modified Stableford (Pairs) Select 26-07-25
A nice even number of 16 players arrived for the Stableford pairs game making 8 teams.
Captain of Vice Wayne (Postie) Finnerty was handling preceding’s in Capt Stevie G’s absence.
The guys all got off on time but soon slowed down and then came to a complete stop on the
5th tee with 4 groups all waiting to tee off, the cause was 6 groups from another club who
we’re playing 4 Man Ambrose but unfortunately not very well! with the course littered with
balls not required, but they finished after nine holes and the game sped up considerably.
Now we have all been guilty of the occasional brain fade BUT this ONE was different,
Craig (Dobbinator) Dobbie walked away from the 14th green and filled in his card for a nice
5 for 3 points BUT then Hoppy advised him that his ball marker was still on the green and
that he had not putted out yet???? (ouch)
Craig then calmly walked back to green, placed his ball and sank the putt for his Par!!!
Perhaps Caig could fill in his card before the game next week & see how he goes?
Novelties
Near pins saw the Dobbinator take out the 5th & 13th holes, while Don, BJ & Sparky
Took out the 8th, 9th & 16th respectively.
Long Drive on the 7th hole went to The Face 0-14 h/cap & Sparky 15 plus h/cap.
Results
This week there was no countback required BUT on checking the cards Hoppy discovered
that to top 2 scores had been incorrectly added up and 2nd place went to the pairing of
Don & the Face on 78 points (card was added up at 76)
The winners were the pairing Of The Two Billys in Senior & Junior ( Buscumb & Jones) with 80 points although
the Card had 79 points and this was only after Billy Senior forgot to hand in their card?
NO Birds Nest, Eclectic or Handicapping this week due to format played. The long putt and the wheel will carry over to
next week due to insufficient numbers, as 7 of the 16 players all had to leave after the game?
Next week’s game
Next week’s game is Monthly Medal with a game of stroke.
Tees will be off the BLUE Tees
To get a spot next week, please book in via the “Not So Fat Controller” Stevie G. SMS is preferred via 0408 735 991 or you can email him via steve.gray@y7mail.com
Please do this by no later than Wednesday night.
Also, please remember to let Wayne or Steve know if your plans change, no matter how late that is. If you don’t show, you now may have to pay
Combined Stableford (Pairs) Select 19-07-25
Combined Par pairs Select was on the fixture but a last-minute change saw captain Stevie G
decide on Combined Stableford instead, to the relief to some of the players when they realised
all the white tees were at the very very back, with some even behind the stone blocks!
Fortunately, it was a coolish but fine day for the 21 players who arrived, which included Country
member Ray Reichard and his very own Rent a mate in Alan Bromley, Ryan (Kill-R) Bale also bought
along his own rent a mate in Matt Jolley who put in his first card.
Now after having a day out last week, Craig (the Dobbinator) Dobbie wasted no time again this week
by having an EAGLE on the 3rd hole, now it must be noted that his 2nd shot from 160 metres barely
left the ground but rolled all the way onto the green and into the hole (sounds like a Hoppy mishit to me) for a
2 for 5 points, catapulting his score to 10 points from the 1st 3 holes!!!! Congrats Dobbinator.
Novelties,
Near pins on the 8th & 13th holes went to Stevie G & B2 respectively with the 2nd shots on 7th & 17th holes
going to Matt Jolley & BJ respectively.
3rd shot on the 14th went to Cuddly Duddly Don
Long drive on the 4th went to The Face 0-14 h/cap & the Dobbinator 15 plus h/cap.
The bird’s nest on 2 and the long putt have jackpotted.
Results
The individual results sees the Dobbinator on fire again with 37 points and a countback required for 2nd between
Billy Jones and BJ both on 33 points with Billy taking 2nd & BJ taking out 3rd.
Combined Stableford pairs result saw the Dobbinator & Martin P take it out with a combined score of 66 points
Just edging out the pair of Stevie G & BJ on 64 points.
Now, there were some experienced teams out there today but with a combined AGE of 149 years, Ray Reichard &
Alan Bromley was just pipped by an even more experienced team in Neil (Billy Snr) Buscumb & Ian (Weirdo) Weir
with a combined AGE of 150 years! unfortunately, this only helped them take out the Combined NAGA for the day!

Round 2 of the Stableford Bowl 12-07-25
After a great turnout of 25 players last week, the weeks predicted rain looks like it turned off
about half those Players, as only 13 players arrived for the 2nd round of the Stableford Bowl.
The No shows need not have worried as there were only a couple of very light showers on the front nine
before it fined up for the rest of the day. (just proves that mother nature has a mind of her own?)
So Ray “Stinga” Pritchard came down for a hit and some in the club said that his latest look
had a striking resemblance to a famous fast food Restuarant founder.
I am not sure there is a resemblance, what do you think?
Do we start calling him Colonel Stinga?
Novelties,
This week saw El Capitano in Stevie G take out the lions share with the near pin on nine, 2nd shot on 2,
3rd shot on 4 as well as the long drive on the 18th 0-14 h/cap.
Only 2 other players got a look in, with Conor taking 2nd shot on the 12th and Mumbles taking out
long drive on 18, 15 plus h/cap. No One managed to get on the 8th or 13th Greens.
Birds nest on the 2nd has jackpotted for another week.
Results
The daily comp saw Conor take out 3rd place on 36 points, a countback was required between Captain Stevie G
and the Dobbinator for 1st place, both on 37 points with Stevie G settling for 2nd and the
Dobbinator taking the win.
The Stableford bowl 2-week comp saw another countback required between The Dobbinator and Hoppy both
on a 2-round score of 73 with the Dobbinator taking it again with a superior 2nd round score (Well done Dobbinator,
PS, Hoppy was really upset when he realised, he could not even take a stroke from his handicap either!)
(see sheet for rest of results)
Just to prove it really was his day the Dobbinator promptly went out and sunk the long putt as well, and pocketed the cash.
Not only that but he also took 2 strokes off his eclectic score to jump 2.5 strokes clear of the pack!!!
When it’s your Day, It’s Your Day!!!
Next week’s game

Monthly Medal Stableford/Round 1 of the Stableford Bowl 05-07-25
It was the 1st round of the 2-week Stableford Bowl Comp as well as the July
Monthly Medal up for grabs which saw a very good turnout of 25 players which
included Stinga Junior (Daniel Pritchard) still trying to outscore Stinga Senior.
We also had Ex Pres in Kevin Pearce come down to see the guys and ride
around in a cart with Postie Wayne and act as the Commentary Team as they
visited each of the groups. Fortunately, they are both retired so don’t have to give up
their day jobs?
Played off the Blue Tees in coolish conditions the game flowed fairly well
with all the guys in by about 4-00 pm.
I was playing with Kill-R all day and the best drive he hit all day was illegal. He decided to see if he could get over
the river while we were waiting on the 5th tee. Unfortunately, he forgot to read the sign before he successfully
hit the ball over the river. Should have of got a fine but I forgot to tell PK.
Also, Razor has been struggling with his game a little (no pun intended), while we were at Rockingham during
the week we found the perfect set of clubs for him. Unfortunately, Razor decided to persist with his normal clubs
and was the midweek NAGA.
Novelties,
Near pins on the 5th, 9th & 16th were won by PK, PK & Blowfish respectively.
2nd shot on the 7th went to BJ, with NO-ONE making the green on the 12th
hole (be there again this week).
3rd shot on the 18th went to the Face.
Long drive on the 4th hole went to BJ, 0-14 h/cap & Ian (Weirdo) Weir, 15 plus h/cap.
Birds Nest on the 2nd & The long Putt have both Jackpotted Again!!!!!!!!!!!!
Results
As it was Monthly Medal a NAGA was awarded BUT, after fighting it out in the Matchplay final
last week these two found themselves fighting it out again but this time in a countback for
the NAGA with Billy Buscumb and Cuddly Duddly Don both carding only 21 points, but this time
it was Don who was the Winner/Loser with an Inferior back nine of 7 points to take home a bottle of Red
for his trouble.
The Monthly Medal results saw a countback required for 2nd place between Kill-R & the Dobbinator
both on a very nice 36 points with Kill-R taking 2nd & the Dobbinator settling for 3rd place.
And so, our July Monthly Medal Winner is our Handicapper in Hoppy on a very good score of 39 points
(well played Hoppy) PS (Hoppy had to begrudgingly take a stroke from his own handicap!!!)
See Sheet for full results for 1st round of Stableford Bowl.
Next week’s game
Next week’s game is round 2 of the Stableford Bowl from the Blue Tees.

Matchplay Final and others 2 Man Ambrose – 28-06-25
The Final of the Matchplay was upon us with the 2 finalists in El Presidente Billy Buscumb
taking on Cuddly Duddly Don for the Matchplay trophy.
A perfect winters day greeted the 20 players who arrived with the others playing a game of 2-man Ambrose with
partners Drawn from 2 groups (i.e. one from each group of the highest & lowest handicaps to even the pairings out)
The front nine was very slow going with 2 groups of young guys in front struggling to keep moving with a wild array
of shots, but fortunately they only played 9 holes, and the game sped up on the back nine but it was still a slow round.
Novelties
This week the Novelties saw 2 long drive holes with hole No 3 winners being Angry 0-14 h/cap & Martin P, 15 plus H/cap
while Hole No 10 winners were the Face 0-14 h/cap & Big Al 15 plus h/cap.
The Near Pins on the 5th,13th & 16th holes went to Billy B, Don & Stevie G respectively with No One getting on the 9th Green.
Results
The 2-man Ambrose results saw a tie for 2nd place on a Nett 66.5 between the team of Big Al & Razor and the team of Martin P
& Jimmy with Martin & Jimmy having to settle for 3rd place on a countback and so Big Al & Razor took 2nd place.
The 2 Man Ambrose winners on a Nett 65.75 were the pair of The Face & the Other Billy in Billy Jones. Well done guys.
The Matchplay Final saw a tight tussle, but it was Our President Billy Buscumb who took a 4 + 3 win over Cuddly Duddly Don to
add another trophy to his cabinet. (Well Done Billy & Commiserations to Don)
Speaking of Don, it is very Rare for a guy to turn up with a New Golf Bag 2 weeks in a Row BUT this happened to Don as
he bought a new bag last week BUT Midweek his Wife took a liking to the bag and said I’ll have that, so it was a new Bag
again, this week. And as Don Said himself ” She drives me to golf every week & picks me up. So, what could I say!”
There was No Birds Nest this week but will carry over to next week, with the Long Putt Jackpotting again.
Next week’s game
Next week’s game is round 1 of the Stableford Bowl as well as the July Monthly Medal played from the Blue Tees.

Matchplay Semi Finals and others Ukranian Stableford – 21-06-25
A surprising 19 players arrived for the Matchplay semi-finals and the rest a game of
Ukranian Stableford with pairs drawn out.
With showers predicted for most of the day, conditions for about the first 7 holes
we’re not good with constant showers and very wet fairways combined with variable
speed on the greens as well as all the White Tees at the Very Back near the Stone Blocks,
this made scoring very difficult on the front nine, but it did improve from about the eighth
hole with scoring improving dramatically as the sun came out periodically and the showers eased.
Novelties
Near pins went to Stevie G, BJ & Glenn Andersson on the 5th,8th & 13th holes respectively.
2nd shots on the 2nd & 11th holes went to Angry & BJ respectively with BJ also taking out
the 3rd shot on the 4th hole as well.
The Long Drive on the 18th was won by Manoj 0-14 h/cap & Sparky 15 plus h/cap.
Results
The Singles results saw the ” B ‘s with the best scores with BJ on 35 points & B2 on 33 points
(well done in those conditions)
The teams event saw 2 quite respectable scores with B2 & Hoppy coming in with 53 points to be
the runners up BUT our Ukranian Stableford winners with a nice 57 points were the Big hitting duo
of BJ & Big Al (well played guys)
As there were an odd number of players a mystery player was drawn out by Wayne to
partner Glenn Andersson BUT unfortunately for Glenn his partner was PK who did not have
a good day, so the two took out the Team NAGA.
In the Matchplay semi-finals Don took a liking to the conditions and smashed Sparky 7 & 6.
Billy then got on top of Manoj for 3 & 2 win, so Don will take on Billy in the Final next week.
The bird’s nest on the 2nd & the Long Putt has both Jackpotted Again.

on the 1st also Going to Stevie G.
Long drive in the 10th went to Stevie G again on 0-14 h/cap and the 15plus h/cap going to Glenn Andersson.
As we know the Birds nest on the 2nd has been going for quite a while now with No winners BUT this week our
Favourite Irishman in Pius did Birdie the 2nd, BUT alas he was not in the Birds Nest so will jackpot again.
(you have to be in it to win it Pius)
The long putt was held but after a couple of Lip Outs has Jackpotted again.
Results
Out on the course the Matchplay saw the usual ups and downs but in the end the games were not as close as last week
with a 2 up win being the closest match (for results see below) The four winners’ ugly mugs below.
The daily results see Hoppy in 3rd place with a handy 35 points, and the Dobbinator coming in 2nd with a nice 36 points,

A perfect winters day greeted the 25 players who had arrived for the 1st round of the matchplay but with only the top 16
playing in the Matchplay the other 9 players had a game of Stableford.
With the sun shining and little breeze the game flowed fairly well, and all the guys were in around 4-00 pm.

The birdsnest jackpotted again on the 2nd hole.
This week the long putt had to be moved to the chipping green due to the number of people on the usual green but alas
The undulations of this green proved too difficult for all so has jackpotted again.

June Monthly Medal in May – 31-05-25
It was the 31st of May, but the June Monthly Medal was being played for in a game of Stableford, and with 21 players
arriving, this was quite a good turn out for a game with showers forecast.
This week our 2nd favourite Irishman in Conor arrived with his Mate Billy Jones who was putting in his 3rd card so
he can get his handicap and be eligible for competitions.
With only one shower during the game the course flowed smoothly with all the guys in by 4-00 pm and already for the
Banquet that Billy had ordered which included spicy chicken wings, squid rings as well as the usual chips.
Strangely TWFSL had to pull out even though he knew there was food on today (must have been very important?)
Before the game a draw was held for the final place in the Matchplay from the 5 guys who could not play on the
Original Qualification Day so as to make an even 16 players, and the lucky one was Ian (Blowfish) Blowers.
Novelties
The novelties saw near pins on the 5th,8th & 13th holes go to The Face, Stinga & Stevie G Respectively.
2nd shot on the 3rd went to Stinga with the Face taking out 2nd shot on 15 after 3 weeks.
3rd shot on the 18th going to BJ.
Long drive on the 12th went to Stevie G 0-14 h/cap and Billy Snr 15+ h/cap
Birds nest on 2 has jackpotted again but the long putt has gone off with
Kill-r sinking the long one to pocket $ 80-00 for his trouble. (NOTE!! Kill-r being a lefty sunk the putt with a borrowed putter right-handed???
Perhaps you should change sides Kill-r ??) Kill-r can use the proceeds to buy a new shaft for his 3 iron which he destroyed on the 10th hole after
a fit of rage.
Results
The results see Stid taking out the NAGA with a not so nice 20 points but also a nice bottle of ALDI White for
that effort?
A countback was required for 2nd place on 35 points between Martin P & Kiwi, with Martin settling for 3rd
And Kiwi coming in 2nd, and so our June Monthly Medal winner is our own keeper of Finances in Ray(Razor) Close.
Well done Razor!!

Match Play Drawn 24-05-25
On an overcast and cool day with rain forecast 18 players turned up to take
on the conditions in a game of Matchplay with opponents drawn, with some interesting combinations
which included the Face Taking on Kill-r and Stinga taking on Martin.
For some strange reason even Manoj (TWFSL) turned up to play knowing there
was NO food on this week??
Out on the course conditions were good to start off but soon turned overcast
& the Temp dropped quickly, but at least it did not rain.
Novelties
Near pins on the 8th, 9th& 16th went to Angry, Big Al & Stevie G respectively.

over to next week.

Par Bowl Round 1 10-05-25
It was a spectacular Autumn Day that greeted the players who turned up to play the first round of the 2025 Par Bowl.
We had 19 players turn up to play the game of Par, including one of our members who hasn’t played for a little while. Welcome back Mumbles.
He advised that he was very rusty and this indicative of the scorecard he put in, in case you don’t remember this is Mumbles
Conor talked one of his mates, Billy Jones into coming down to have a hit with us. Hopefully he had a good day, and we made him feel welcome to our club.
Billy has put his first card in and has indicated that he will play this Saturday.
The original Irishman Pius has decided that his hip is back to normal and has removed all the cobwebs on the caravan and has ventured out for a few weeks,

Results
It was bought to my attention that some of the handicaps on the white tees were incorrect, on checking our resident handicapper Mr Hoppy who is sunning himself
somewhere in South-east Asia provided me with the incorrect handicaps (worthy of a fine when he returns) With the assistance of Big Al, we checked the handicaps and
made the necessary amendments including having a look at the scorecards and the holes affected to ensure the scorecards are true and correct.
So, after review these are the results.
In third place with a score of square is Martin Page
Second spot with a score of plus 1 is Angry Andersson
Our winner and leading the Par Bowl is the pocket rocket ray (Razor) Close

Monthly Medal Stroke 03-05-25 Matchplay Qualification
It was the May Monthly Medal with a game of stroke from the blue tees, but with the threat of rain and strong winds as well as an overcast day, conditions
were not conducive to low scores and this proved to be the case.
The Par 5, 14th hole being particularly difficult with the club average for this hole being over 7 strokes for the day, this included 4 scores of 9 as well as 3 scores of 10.
(talk about a tough hole !!!)
Of the 21 players, 11 had Nett scores of over Nett 80, and the best or worst of these was Martin Page who took home the NAGA Award with a Nett 92, as well as a bottle of Red for all that effort.
The Novelties saw Glenn Andersson take out the near Pin on the 8th, Conor on the 9th & Stevie G on the 13th holes.
2nd shots went to Jarrad on the 3rd & No One on the 15th hole (Be there this week)! 3rd shot on the 1st hole went to Sendo.
Long drive on the 18th went to Glenn Andersson 0-14 H/Cap & Pius 15 plus H/Cap
The birdsnest on the 2nd hole has jackpotted AGAIN, BUT This week we have finally got a winner in the long putt with our
2nd favourite Irishman in Conor Giles sinking the long one to pocket a very handy $ 192-00 for just one Putt !! (Congrats Conor)
Results
The results saw a countback for 2nd place between the Captain Stevie G & Handicapper Hoppy both on Nett 74 with Stevie G
Settling for 3rd & Hoppy taking out 2nd (always hard to win a countback against the Handicapper!)
And so, our Monthly Medal winner with a nice Nett 73 is none other than Peter (B2, Duke) Scott (well done Duke)
This game was also the Qualification game for the Matchplay comp in June
(see attached sheet for those who can play All 4 games from 8th to 29th June)

Life Members “Novelty” Day – Stableford 26-04-25

It was a perfect day for the Annual Life Members Reunion/Novelty Day with 23
players in attendance, this included 4 current Life members (Del, Razor, Hoppy and Jimmy) as
well as Past member and Life member in Alf Wettinger who came along to see the guys
as well as have a hit (See Photo)
With the white tees a bit more forward than the previous week and with very
little wind and the temp in the mid 20’s scoring in this game of Stableford
was much improved on last week’s game of Par Plus.
With novelties on every hole and the winners having a spin on the wheel of (mis) Fortune
there was plenty of money up for grabs with some getting more than their share!
The results see 4 players coming in with 35 points and all they get is a mention!
In 3rd place and playing to his handicap with 36 points was Adam (Angry) Andersson.
2nd place went to Handicapper Hoppy with a nice 37 points, and so our daily winner with
a very nice 38 points was Derek (Del) Russell (well played Del)
Note!! Hoppy was upset at missing out on the win, so he took it out on Dels H/Cap and took
a stroke from him!!
The Birds Nest on the 2nd hole as well as the long putt have both jackpotted Again!!
Next week’s game is Monthly Medal Stroke and is also the Qualification game for the
Matchplay which starts on the 7th JUNE, so check your calendar to see if you are avail for all 4 weeks
in June and then write Yes OR No on your Card
To get a spot next week, please book in via the “Not So Fat Controller” Stevie G. SMS is preferred via 0408 735 991 or you can email him via steve.gray@y7mail.com

Par Plus 19-04-25

23 players were booked in for everyone’s favourite version of Par in Par Plus,
but only 19 players arrived for the game only to find out that all the white tees
were right at the back near the stone blocks, this made scoring just that bit more
difficult on an overcast day which included a cool breeze most of the time.
With the general public out in force it was slow going on the front nine but
picked up on the back nine with some groups only playing nine holes.
The novelties saw Conor take out the near pin on the 5th, Jarrad on the 9th
& Stevie G on the 16th holes
2nd Shot on the 2nd hole went to No-One so will be there again next week.
3rd shot on the 14th went to Hoppy
Long Drive on the 7th went to Jarrad 0-14 H/CAP & PK 15 plus H/CAP.
The Birds Nest & Long Putt have both Jackpotted again.
This week’s Sandbagging award goes to Cuddly Duddly Don who after being on Fire on the front nine with
superb Plus Five, had the Fire put out by a TSUNAMI on the back nine when he carded a Minus Eight?
(talk about a tale of 2 Nines)
The results were not good reading as NOT One player managed to register a Plus Score with the winner
only coming in with an Even Score card, and only 6 players scoring a double plus on one hole?
A countback was required for 3rd place with Conor just edging out Bj, Both with Minus 2.
2nd place went to Stid with a nice minus 1, and so our Par Plus winner with an even score of Zero was
Adam (Angry) Andersson, (Well done Angry) Now at this point Angry was feeling so confident that he tried to chat up the new Barmaid by asking
if her Accent was Swedish but Alas she said she was German and thus rejected him? (better luck next time Angry)
After the game Sparky Volunteered to carry out the Master of Arms duties and did a good job with the fines (Thanks Sparky)
Next week’s game is Life Members reunion Day /Novelty Day with a game of Stableford.

Modified Ukranian Stableford Pairs “Drawn” 12-04-25

Modified Ukranian Stableford Pairs with drawn partners was the format but Capt. Stevie G
added another twist by splitting the handicap range down the middle and drawing one partner
from the lower handicap range and the other from the higher handicap range, thus evening the teams up.
There were 7 pairs of players plus our regular half a game chef in Rob Ash who teed off,
but before the game our chef was seen preparing himself for a hot day at the office by
swallowing NOT one, NOT two but THREE bottles of Staminade before the game, and just to get in the mood,
he downed a mid-strength Beer as well! (talk about getting ready for Work!!!)
The after game long putt was held but has jackpotted again.
The novelties’ saw Stevie G take out the near pins on 3rd & 13th holes with Ridgy the closest on the 8th hole.
2nd shot on Hole No 3 went to no-one! with the Other Andersson in Glenn taking it out on the 10th hole.
Long Drive on hole 15 went to Stevie G on 0-14 h/cap & PK Kingma on the 15 plus h/cap.
There were individual Stableford results with a tie between Stevie G and Mark (Softballs) Wareham both on 39 points with Capt Stevie winning the countback
to take 2nd place and Softballs settling for 3rd place, and so the individual winner on a great 43 points was our pocket rocket in Ray (RAZOR) Close.
The Pairs results were close with the team of Big Al & Hoppy on 90 points taking out 2nd place BUT the unstoppable Pair of Razor & Stevie G were the winners with a very good score of 92 points (well done guys)
Note!! NO Handicapping or Eclectic this week.
Next week’s game is PAR PLUS.
To get a spot next week, please book in via the “Not So Fat Controller” Stevie G. SMS is preferred via 0408 735 991 or you can email him via steve.gray@y7mail.com Please do this by no later than Wednesday night.

Barefoot Bowls
There were 19 club members, partners and family turned up on Friday night at the Victoria Park Carlisle Bowling Club for a night of barefoot bowls.
Kiwi arranged the team sheet of which there 6 teams of 3 and the scoring of games to determine which team would win the night.
When we arrived at the club there was a meat raffle to which our Captain won (the only thing he won all night).
I think we have found someone louder than Kiwi with Jo from the Club putting Kiwi to shame.
Bowls started just after 7 and we were able to get a couple of games in before the Pizzas were arranged for 8:30 PM which were very tasty.
While we were feasting on Pizzas and garlic bread a thunderstorm was heading towards the club with steady but light rain starting to set in.
Kiwi decided to call the night, the winners were decided on the games played before the Pizza break.
Our winners were the team of Razor, Robin and Martin – well done
A big thank you must go to our social secretary Kiwi for the work he did arranging a very good night out. I think everyone enjoyed themselves
Monthly Medal “PAR” – 05-03-25

It was the 1st game of PAR for the year with a Monthly Medal up for grabs and so 17 players arrived including
” Once a month Manoj” who only turns up when there is free food on the menu? (see you next month Manoj)
This week’s game was from the blue tees which made the course slightly shorter than last week when nearly all
the White Tees were at the back near the Stone blocks!
Conditions were very windy for the 1st nine holes but calmed down later, but the course was littered with broken
branches and covered in leaves as well as a lot of rubbish on the greens. As the guys approached the 3rd tee, the unusual
sound of Bagpipes could be heard from across the river and this turned out to be omen for later on!
Scoring was reasonable in the conditions but there were still 14 players who came in with a Minus score.
The novelties’ saw Jarrad & Stinga take out the near pins on holes 9 & 16 respectively.
2nd shot on the 6th went to Manoj with the 2nd shot on 10 & 3rd shot on 14 both being available next week as
Not one of the 17 players made it to the green!!!!
The Long Drive on the 2nd hole went to Angry 0-14 h/cap and Martin P 15 + H/Cap.
Birds Nest on hole No 2 has jackpotted again as well as the Long Putt.
The results saw a countback required for 2nd place between Capt. Stevie G & The Dobbinator both coming in square, Stevie G taking out 2nd & the Dobbinator settling for 3rd place.
And therefore, our Monthly Medal Winner with a very good score of Plus 3 is Cuddly Duddly Don who admitted after the game that the sound of bagpipes really inspired him!!!! (Well done Scotsman)
Next week’s game is Modified Ukranian Stableford Pairs with teams Drawn (at Maylands 1056 tee off).
o get a spot next week, please book in via the “Not So Fat Controller” Stevie G. SMS is preferred via 0408 735 991 or you can email him via steve.gray@y7mail.com Please do this by no later than Wednesday night.

Hidden Nine Stableford – 29-03-25

With the 6th day above 35 degrees this week, we knew it was going to be hot but the 21 players who turned up were in for a shock as there was hardly a cloud in the sky and not even a
hint of a breeze and so conditions were F%#&ing hot as well as humid, and we call this the 1st month of the winter season (should be called the last month of summer?)
Unfortunately, the game was played off the White tees which were nearly all up the back near the stone blocks which made it just that bit longer on a very hot day.
The game was Hidden Nine Stableford with Wayne getting his missus to cut out the 9 holes on a card & sealing it in an envelope, but our forgetful postman Pat left it at home,
so had to hastily cut one out before we came in, and he even stuffed that up, requiring 2 goes to get it right? (you had one job Wayne??)
Before the game the club welcomed back Cuddly Duddly Don after his recent health scare, as well as Glenn Andersson who came down for a hit after an 18-month absence (welcome back guys).
Out on the course the guys were doing their best to get their eclectic scores down with no less than 10 birdies on the day, but not one of them was on the 2nd hole, the birdsnest hole,
it has now jackpotted for 3 weeks?
There were some good individual scores, but the game was all about who had the best scores on the hidden nine holes which were,2,4,6,7,9 and 10,12,14 & 17, and so
there was a 3-way tie for 3rd place between Martin P, Jarrad & Don all on 19 points with Martin taking 3rd place.
There was also a tie for 1st & 2nd between Stevie G & Kiwi, both on 21 points with Kiwi winning on a countback, Stevie G settling for 2nd.
The novelties saw Kiwi & Bj take out the near pins on the 5th & 13th holes respectively, while Big Al & Martin took out the 2nd shots on holes 7 & 12, 3rd shot went to Don on the 4th hole.
The long drive on hole 17 went to Glenn Andersson 0-14 h/cap while Sparky had the best drive for the 15 plus H/Cap.
The After game Long Putt was held after the guys had cooled down and freshened up a bit. although some got close the long putt has jackpotted this week.
Reminder – if you have not paid your Annual Fees please do so as soon as you can – See Razor.
Next week’s game is monthly medal with a game of Par from the blue tees. Note to Manoj !!!, there will be food after the game so make sure you book in with Stevie G as early as possible?
To get a spot next week, please book in via the “Not So Fat Controller” Stevie G. SMS is preferred via 0408 735 991 or you can email him via steve.gray@y7mail.com Please do this by no later than Wednesday night.

“Bring A Mate/Bill Day” Stableford – 22-03-25

It was the Annual bring a mate day with a game of Stableford, unfortunately of the 17 players who arrived, only one was able to find a mate to bring along and that was Adam (Angry) Andersson who managed to bring
along his rent a mate in Karl, Welcome Karl.
Before the game a large group of ladies arrived for a Hens Party which for some of the older members, bought back memories from the weddings that used to be held at the lodge at the Rosehill course?
It was a calm and sunny start to the game but soon became quite warm and very humid, with the sea breeze not arriving until the 1st group arrived at the 13th tee.
The results of the novelties saw Angry, and his Mate Karl take out the near pins on the 8th & 16th holes respectively.
2nd shot on hole No 7 went to Capt. Stevie G with No one able to get on the green on the 12th hole in 2. 3rd shot on hole 18 went to the Face.
The long drive on the 3rd hole went to our 2nd favourite Irishman in Conor- 15+ h/cap with Manoj (TWFSL) taking it out for the 0-14 h/cap.
The Birds nest on the 2nd hole has jackpotted again. And so with 6 players carding 35 points or more scoring was very good on the day.
The Unofficial Naga went to our returning Kiwi in Grant with a very average score of 25 points.
The results saw Big Al Prodger take out 3rd place with a nice 38 points, with Pk Kingma carding a very nice 39 points for 2nd place,
But with a very impressive 70 off the stick and 42 points was our favourite ex-FIFO worker in Bj Morley who took out the daily win (very well played Bj) Hoppy was not as impressed and cut a stroke from BJ
and PK but Big Al just missed losing a stroke.
The after game long putt was held and yes, it was Razor again who sunk the long one to pocket $122-00 (Razor had some help this time with Hoppy stupidly telling him where to hit the Putt)
During the game news came through that Cuddly Duddly Don had a health scare during the week, but Don is on the mend and hopes to be back on out on the course shortly. (Everyone at the club wishes you a speedy recovery Don)
Next week’s game is Hidden Nine Stableford with the holes to be revealed after the game.
Our Social Secretary Grant “Kiwi” Morrogh announced that the first Social Event for the Club this year will be

PK scores his first Hole in One
During the week a number of us played a game at Hartfield. PK was playing with Stevie G and B2.
On the 4th hole PK scored his very 1st hole in one and scored a 1 for 5 points.
By the way PK bought all those who played a beer or drink of their choice after the game.
Wel done PK!!!!
Stableford – 15-03-25

A game of 4-man Irish Stableford was planned but with odd numbers it was changed to just plain old Stableford from the White Tees.
19 players arrived to find a fine but overcast day with the humidity increasing when the sun came out.
This week saw Part time golfer, but full time Chef, Rob Ash only able to play 9 holes again, alas this time he forgot to fill out and hand in a card so that these 9 holes could be added to the
last 9 holes so he could be handicapped. (Hoppy’s on to you Rob?)
Out on the course we saw Sparky & Jarrad hogging the novelties with Sparky taking out the 2nd shots on the 3rd & 17th holes as well as the long drive on hole 15 for the 15 plus h/cap.
Jarrad hogging the par 3’s on holes No 5 & 13. Sendo took out the 3rd shot on the 1st hole with hoppy getting the long drive on the 15th for the 0-14 h/cap.
Scoring was a mixed bag with some very good scores as well as some not so good scores.
Fortunately for some there was No NAGA this week as there would have been quite a few contenders!
A countback was required for 2nd & 3rd place between Jarrad & Stinga who both had 38 points but with Stinga having 22 points on the back nine he took out 2nd with Jarrad settling for 3rd.
And so, our daily winner with a very nice 40 points was our Handicapper in Hoppy (well played Guys)
The bird’s nest and long putt have both jackpotted for next week.
Next week’s game (22/03/25) is Bring a Mate/Bill Day with a game of Stableford

Monthly Medal – Stableford – 08-03-2025

It was the 1st Monthly Medal of the winter season and Stableford from the blue tees was the format with 23 players turning up to try their luck, this included 2 visitors in past members Shane Seward and Colin Lane (Welcome Guys).
Now I have had some very different excuses for members not being able to play but I think Blowfish’s excuse is pretty good. Blowfish sent me a message on Thursday saying that ” I twisted my back getting a massage” (I may have not read the whole message), immediately I had thoughts on whether Blowfish may have had a happy ending anyway he messaged me on Saturday morning “Hey mate back is still tight so gonna give it a miss”. That must have been some massage.
The weather saw an early sprinkle of rain followed by a warm sun and humidity; this was followed by pleasant conditions with a bit of cloud cover as the sea breeze picked up.
After the game the guys feasted on squid rings, spicy chicken wings, nachos as well as the usual chips. All the food was a surprise to Shane and Colin who advised that they may be back for the next Monthly Medal. Razor also contacted Manoj (who contacted Razor early Saturday advising that he wasn’t playing) that there was food left, apparently Manoj was prepared to drive down and finish it off.
Out on the course the Novelty prizes were won by
BJ – Near pin on the 9th hole and also long drive (0-14) on the 6th hole.
Don – Near pin on the 16th hole and 3rd shot on the 14th hole. It must be noted that the last group of Stinga, Kill-R and Ridgy left the near pin marker on the 16th hole (they had 1 job!!!) and thanks to Jarrad who commandeered a cart and went and retrieved it. Thank you Jarrad.
Colin – 2nd shot on the 2nd hole
Jarrad – 2nd shot on the 11th hole
Sparky – Long drive (15+) on the 6th hole
Eddy – Long Putt on the 18th Hole.
There were also 2 eagles – BJ on the 4th hole and Stinga on the 18th hole (Well played). Note: Your eclectic score already looks good after 1 game.
Jarrad also cashed in on the 1st hole taking out the bird’s nest but only pocketed $16. The bird’s nest will be on the 2nd hole this week – be in it to win it.
The long putt jackpotted again.
As it is Monthly Medal, it is NAGA time and this time it was Ridgy with an impressive 17 points. the bottle of Red that Razor will get for him will ease the pain and cheer him up a little. There were 3 other players who thought they were shoe ins to win the NAGA and were surprised when Ridgy was announced as the NAGA winner.
In third place with a score of 36 points was Martin (Sparky) Siney
2nd place went to Ray (Stinga) Pritchard with a nice 37 points.
Our March 2025 Monthly Medal winner is our resident Scotsman in Don (Cuddly Duddly) Sinclair with a very impressive 39 points. Well played Don.
Next game – March 15 is Irish Stableford off the white tees. (We will advise the format on Saturday morning.)
Very importantly, as you return to the club for the new season, and once you’ve filled out your 2025 Membership form, please get your payment to Razor ASAP. Rosehill Cup – Ambrose – Select – 01-03-2025
The 2025 RSCG Winter (still summer weather) season was upon us and a great turnout of 25 players (one could only play nine holes), which saw 6 x 4-man Ambrose teams fight it out for the 1st trophy of the year “The Rosehill Cup”.
The club welcomed back a number of players who did not play summer comp, and they were Del, Eddy, Ray Reichard, Stid, Martin Page, Ridgy and Manoj. We also welcomed Lawrie (Truck) Wishart who came down just to say hello to all the guys (good to see you Lawrie).
After membership forms were filled out and fees paid the guys headed out on a perfect morning, but it soon turned hot and humid on the front nine before the sea breeze came in to become a cooler but rather windier back nine. There were some newly formed teams this year with some players away on holidays and others unable to play and so the results saw the following from 6th to 1st
In 6th place and the winners of the NAGA (thanks to Angry they were awarded 3 1/2 bottles of red wine) was the team of Martin Page, Dobbie, Ray R and Mark (Softballs) Wareham. With a score of 72 nett 61.875. It was also noted and heard that Ray Reichard chipped in for a birdie on the 3rd hole, I don’t know who was more excited, Ray or Rob! Rob could only play nine holes as he had work commitments.
In 5th place was the team of Eddy, Sendo, Ridgy and Billy with a score of 69 nett 60, unfortunately after Billy’s knee replacement in January he started to feel a bit lame after 12 holes and decided not to continue however he stayed with his group and provided encouragement.
In 4th place was the team of Razor, Jarrad, Angry and Manoj who carded a 64 for a nett score of 58.25
In 3rd place was the team of The Not So Fat Controller, BJ, Don and Conor who carded the best gross score for the day of 63 with a nett score of 57.625
In 2nd place was the team of PK, Pius, Big Al and Hoppy who carded a 65 for a nett score of 57.125. Pius will be away for about 6 weeks as it is my understanding that he is having hip surgery on Wednesday.
Our Rosehill Cup champions were the team of Del, Kill-R, Stid and Sparky who got off to a flyer as they scored a birdie on the first four holes but only managed one more birdie for the rest of the round, they scored a 66 for a nett score of 55.25 (Well played guys)
This week’s Novelty winners
Near Pin – 5th – BJ, 8th – Sendo, 9th – No-One (will be there this week), 13th – Stevie G, 16th – Sparky
Long Drive on 18 – (0 – 14) – Jarrad (The face) and (15+) – Conor
The long putt was held but has jackpotted to approximately $60.00
Next game – March 8 is Monthly Medal Stableford off the Blue tees.
Very importantly, as you return to the club for the new season, and once you’ve filled out your 2025 Membership form, please get your payment to Razor ASAP.
