Matchplay Semi Finals others Stableford 20-06-26<\/span><\/h3>\n
17 players turned up including the return of a traveller. 4 Players were competing for the<\/div>\n
semifinals of the yearly Matchplay tournament with the other 13 players competing in a game of<\/div>\n
Stableford.<\/div>\n
Those competing in the Matchplay were<\/div>\n
1. Wayne vs Razor<\/div>\n
2. Hoppy vs Big Al<\/div>\n

Stinger was returning after his trip to Canada, and it was also his 200th game with the club.<\/div>\n

During the post-match drinks our treasurer Razor boasted about the events on the 16th green and it<\/div>\n
goes something like this.<\/div>\n

Matchplay Round of 8 others Stableford 13-06-26<\/span><\/h3>\n
A reasonably fresh day (it was friggin cold at tee off) greeted the 15 players who<\/div>\n
turned up to have a hit. Eight of which were competing for the round of 8 of the<\/div>\n
yearly Matchplay tournament with the other 7 players competing in a game of<\/div>\n
Stableford.<\/div>\n
Those competing in the Matchplay were<\/div>\n
1. Wayne vs Billy<\/div>\n
2. Hoppy vs Stevie G<\/div>\n
3. Big Al vs Sparky<\/div>\n
4. Razor vs Stid<\/div>\n

It was good to see the PK come back to the club after travelling across this<\/div>\n
great country of ours. 5 months and 16000 km later. Unfortunately, the<\/div>\n
Landcruiser after a trouble free 16 000 km decided that it did not want to<\/div>\n
start PK had to come in Jenny’s car.<\/div>\n

June Monthly Medal “Stableford” 06\/06 -26<\/span><\/h3>\n
There was a song by an Australian Band called Little Heroes released in 1982 that<\/div>\n
could be used to describe the weather that greeted the 18 players that turned up<\/div>\n
and that song was “One Perfect Day”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Unfortunately, the only things that could jeopardise the “One Perfect Day” was poor<\/div>\n
golf\u00a0and slow play. Slow play was very present especially on the front nine with the<\/div>\n
public\u00a0not helping the speed of play. Looking at some of the scores the golf was<\/div>\n
a bit of a struggle as well..<\/div>\n

Billy was getting excited because he was getting updates on the Dockers playing<\/div>\n
North Melbourne in Bunbury and we all know that the Dockers smashed the Roos,<\/div>\n
this may have affected Billy’s concentration as he was struggling a little with<\/div>\n
his swing.<\/div>\n

The countback was for second and third with 33 points and that was between Big Al and<\/div>\n
Wayno.<\/div>\n
In 3rd place and losing the countback was Wayno which means that Big Al won the countback<\/div>\n
and came second.<\/div>\n

Matchplay – Drawn 30-05-26<\/span><\/h3>\n
A Cloudy pre storm day welcomed 15 players to have a fun day with a<\/div>\n
practice game of Match play. As the numbers were not even the last<\/div>\n
group was a group of 3 with Stevie G have 2 matches.<\/div>\n
The excitement of playing matchplay and giving his opponent 21 shots<\/div>\n
must have way too much for one of our members. It was reported that<\/div>\n
Alby walked to the first tee and when he arrived, he soon realised that he did<\/div>\n
not have any clubs, he then had to make his way back to the clubhouse to<\/div>\n
retrieve them.<\/div>\n

The Hoppy Factor<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Our handicapper Hoppy had an interesting day.<\/div>\n
On the first hole he was at the back of the green when all of a sudden lily white<\/div>\n
legs were seen to be flying everywhere. Apparently, he stepped backward into a<\/div>\n
sprinkler hole and lost his balance and went A over T.<\/div>\n
Now it took a little bit of a while before Hoppy fully recovered from the first hole<\/div>\n
before he was back in the swing of things.<\/div>\n
On the 14th hole it was reported that his drive was going left heading out of bounds<\/div>\n
when miraculously for the ball clipped the boundary fence and ended up in the<\/div>\n
middle of the fairway.<\/div>\n
On the same hole, Hoppy topped his shot and was again headed out of bounds. The<\/div>\n
ball then hit Don’s ball and prevented Hoppy’s ball from going out of bounds again.<\/div>\n
Then on the same hole hit the pin on the green.<\/div>\n

A spectacular Sunny Autumn day greeted the 16 players who turned up to compete<\/div>\n
in a game of Modified Ukrainian Stableford – Pairs – Drawn.<\/div>\n

very high and today was no exception with 5 players over 40 points.<\/div>\n
We had a countback for 2nd place both with scores of 42 points and that was between<\/div>\n
Martin (The original) and Kiwi. After the initial first countback they could not be separated<\/div>\n
so go to the last 12 holes and it was determined the Martin (The original) secured the<\/div>\n
second place. Bad luck Kiwi.<\/div>\n
The winner with a very impressive score of 44 points was Eddie, well played Eddie!!!<\/div>\n

Stroke “Matchplay Qualifications” – 16-05-26<\/span><\/h3>\n
13 players turned up to compete for a game of Stroke on what was a delightful Autumn Day.<\/div>\n
This event would also determine the qualification order for the “Matchplay”.<\/div>\n
There were a few members during the week who pulled out with injuries ranging from<\/div>\n
ribs playing footy and doing a groin getting out of bed.<\/div>\n
The day turned out to be a very slow day with a couple of groups in front of our first group<\/div>\n
holding everyone up.<\/div>\n

16 players turned up to contest Round 2 of the first major trophy for 2026 “The Par Bowl”.<\/div>\n

It was ANZAC day 2026 (Lest we Forget) In what turned out to be was a very fine Autumn Day.<\/div>\n
It was also the day we celebrate our Life Members of which we had 4 of them in attendance for<\/div>\n
the annual life members reunion day with a game of Stableford.<\/div>\n
Life Members – Stephen Hopkins, Ray Close, Derek Russell and Eddy Lorenti.<\/div>\n

Another great Autumn Day presented itself for a game of Stableford off the white tees.<\/div>\n
It was “Bring A Mate” day – no mates turned up so it was decided that all of our mates<\/div>\n

third round as a visitor and has officially joined the club and now has a handicap. Another victim<\/div>\n

During the week leading up to Saturday, the threat of Cyclone Narelle impacting<\/div>\n
our Saturday golf encouraged a lot of our members to stay at home.<\/div>\n
We had 11 players say bugger you Narelle I am playing anyway. For those that<\/div>\n
turned up we were pleasantly surprised that the weather had cleared with light<\/div>\n
winds from the North-East. What was also a surprise was that the course was<\/div>\n
in reasonably good condition given the amount of rain in the previous 24 hours.<\/div>\n

On a lovely Saturday afternoon, 19 players including 2 visitors turned up for a game<\/div>\n

Conor brought 2 of his mates Josh and Ryan along to have their first hit with<\/div>\n
the club. I think Josh and Ryan\u00a0had a good day and put their first card into our<\/div>\n
handicapper Hoppy. Hopefully they liked it so much that\u00a0they will return soon.<\/div>\n
It was also Stid’s 100th game, now Stid knocked back the drink cart during<\/div>\n

The first Monthly Medal for our winter season was a game of Stableford. 20 players turned up<\/div>\n
to compete off the very controversial blue tees. With the 4th hole tee and the 16th hole tees under<\/div>\n
repair the white tees substituted for the blues.<\/div>\n
There were some highlights of the day in particular was Alby’s eagle on the par 5 4th hole.<\/div>\n

The first day of the 2026 Winter Comp meant a game of 4-man Ambrose Select off<\/div>\n
the white tees. With a tee time of 1104 the first game of Winter was contested in very hot<\/div>\n

With the 16 players meant we had 4 teams of 4 presented for play. We reserved a table so after the game, we<\/div>\n

The final day of the 2025 Winter Comp meant a game of 4-man Ambrose Select off<\/div>\n
the white tees. A later tee time of around 1250 was due to a Shot Gun start for a group<\/div>\n
of Golfers that teed off around 8 AM and to ensure there was minimal time between the<\/div>\n
end of playing golf and our end of year function.<\/div>\n
6 teams of 4 presented for play. The first group teed off with the course empty and about<\/div>\n
3 hours 45 minutes later their round was completed. After the game the Maylands Outdoor<\/div>\n
area was full of people, fortunately we were able to get into the function room early.<\/div>\n

A good number of our members stayed at the Maylands Club where our club<\/div>\n
held our End of Year Dinner and Trophy Presentation. Cash was dealt out to<\/div>\n
all by Stevie G and Razor for all the credits won throughout the year.<\/div>\n
The club put a tab on the bar, and everyone had a choice of food on the menu.<\/div>\n
Trophy presentation was held, and everyone appeared to have a good time.<\/div>\n
